Introduction & History

Maa Kali Mandir is a 100 years old temple situated in the development block Jarjigarh of Raebareli district of Uttar Pradesh in Kharauli Gram Sabha, which is located near Ganga Ghat. Situated on the bank of Ganga, the presiding deity of the temple is Goddess Kali, a form of Adishakti Kalika. There is also a famous Gokana Ghat nearby.
According to the prevailing beliefs and available historical details This temple was found during the rule of Raja Udai Singh in 19th Century, when the deity of Mata was found in River Ganga. Locals tried to lift the idol, but no one could lift it. Finally, two devotees from a nearby village came and established the Idol below a tamarind tree situated in the bank of Ganga.
Mata has fulfilled desired of many and the claims are well recognized by the people in the areas nearby. Thursday is Mother's Day here. Devotees come here every Thursday to and it is believed that the devotees who have a sincere mind and whoever expresses his / her desire with devotion, Mata definitely fulfills it.

A few years ago, thieves tried to steal his idol but they could not shake it, they even tried many different ways but were unsuccessful. They even dragged the idol to the Ganga Ghat and tried to sell the idol. But Mata is so well known in the region that the person whom the thieves wanted to sell the idol was her devotee. The person whom the thieves approached immediately informed the people as well as the local police station.

The police caught the thieves, after interrogating the thieves, it came to their knowledge that their idol was hidden at the Ganga Ghat. But the idol was not found even after an extensive search by the local police. When all seemed lost the attention of the police came to a halt at a pair of Sarasu birds which were not moving from their place even on trying. On the orders of a senior police officer the idol was found at the same place on further excavation.
